How many trumpet judgements are there
I think sometimes people believe God brings judgment because he likes to judge. He brings judgment because he is a just God. In order for God to be who he is, he must judge sin.
Yet even in the judging process, God offers opportunity for repentance because that is his heart. As you can see with the first four of the seven trumpets in Revelation, things are getting pretty bad.
The fifth trumpet Rev. This trumpet releases Satan with power to use demonic influence, described as locusts, to torment those who have rejected God. What an incredible time of torture and pain. Ironically the ones who are protected are those who had the seal of God on their foreheads. The sixth trumpet Rev. This trumpet brings an astonishing amount of death and an absolutely incredible response to it.
With the sixth trumpet, four angels are released along with an army of million which is probably a demonic army. They proceed to kill one third of all the people on the earth. Again, a time unlike any we have ever witnessed in human history. What is fascinating however, is the response of the people who survive this period:.
Instead of turning to God in repentance, they dig in with their defiance even more. The heart of man has grown so hard that even among great tragedy and death they refuse to turn from sin and turn towards God. They continue to reject his love and compassion. This shows you the danger and power of a hardened heart. Before the blowing of the seventh and final trumpet there are a series of events that take place.
I encourage you to read through Revelation 10 and 11 to get the full picture. In Scripture seven is the number of completion, so the announcement associated with this trumpet falls right in line. Here is what happens when the seventh trumpet is blown:. There are some major events left to play out but we know this trumpet is blown closer to the end of the Great Tribulation. When you consider what the seven trumpets in Revelation are you see there is a lot to digest. They will be leading an army of million demonic spirits — I repeat, million demonic spirits!
This army of million is not China. China emerges in the battle of Armageddon. This judgment will occur before the battle of Armageddon. We are talking about million demons let loose upon this earth to literally kill one third of the people that are still left on it! Remember, one fourth of mankind has already been killed in the fourth seal judgment. And the most amazing thing occurs at the end of this verse — it says that the people who are still left on the earth watching and experiencing all of these horrors still refuse to repent and turn to God.
They still continue in their worship of demons and all of their wicked ways. They know that all of these severe judgments are coming direct to them from God Himself, but yet they still refuse to turn from their evil and wicked ways.
This really does show how stubborn the human heart can be when it comes to spiritual matters. Some people will refuse to accept the truth of our Lord and Savior, even when faced with God supernaturally showing Himself with the way He will be doing during these times.
Now the number of the army of the horsemen was two hundred million, and I heard the number of them. And thus I saw the horses in the vision: those who sat on them had breastplates of fiery red, hyacinth blue, and sulfur yellow; and the heads of the horses were like the heads of lions; and out of their mouths came fire, smoke, and brimstone.
For their power is in their mouth and in their tails; for their tails are like serpents, and having heads; and with them they do harm. But the rest of mankind, who were not killed by these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, that they should not worship demons, and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood, which can neither see nor hear nor walk; and they did not repent of their murders or their sorceries or their sexual immorality or their thefts.
This last and final trumpet judgment is the final woe. However, it is not really a judgment per se. In this judgment, we are shown that heaven is beginning to rejoice because they know the end is very near. They are rejoicing because God has been releasing His wrath on a sinful world and He is starting to take His vengeance. However, the last part of the verse says that more lightnings, noises, thunderings, another earthquake, and more hail is released upon the earth once again.
However, these events are almost tame compared to what has just been occurring over the last set of trumpet judgments. Here is the verse:. The nations were angry, and Your wrath has come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that You shall reward Your servants the prophets and the saints, and those who fear Your name, small and great, and should destroy those who destroy the earth. Then the temple of God was opened in heaven, and the ark of His covenant was seen in His temple.
And there were lightnings, noises, thunderings, an earthquake, and great hail. Believe it or not, there is still one more wave of severe judgments that will hit this earth.
These are called the Bowl Judgments and there are also seven of them. God will be turning up the heat for one last time to try and get some of these wicked people to turn from their evil ways before Jesus comes back for the second time to put a final end to all of this bloodshed. John the Apostle saw this vision after having seen seven seals being opened as recorded in the Book of Revelation.
As the future had been rolled out like a scroll, the end was reached. The warnings had been given, and the Day of Judgement [1] was still to come. The trumpet, especially the sophar , was the instrument to be blown by priests as a "sure sound" that God was about to act.
First used to call attention to the giving of the Law to keep people from approaching the mountain [2] , the carved out ram's horn was especially to be used to mark the beginning of the " Jubilee " year.
Before the first Jubilee was observed in the days of Joshua , a preview of the glory to come was enacted in the capture of Jericho. As with the year of Jubilee, and the course of the months, a circle was inscribed seven times before a final loud blast was heard.
For seven days the armies were accompanied wit seven priests with trumpets. On the seventh day the armies marched seven times around the enemy, and then the seven trumpets blasted and the people yelled. God worked marvelously as the walls came falling outward, making the city open for the taking [3]. Each month was to be announced with the blowing of trumpets [4] , with seven trumpets reserved for the Feast of Trumpets at the beginning of the holidays in the fall.
Ten days later, the trumpets would then be sounded to mark the holiest day of the year--the Day of Atonement [5]. The last trumpet would sound a beginning of a time of mourning leading up to national acknowledgment of sin. Both the prophets and the apostles spoke of this day of reckoning as coming at the sound of trumpets [6]. Jesus most famously taught about it soon before he went to the cross [7]. When the first angel will sound his trumpet, hail and fire mixed with blood will be thrown to the earth, causing a third of both the earth and trees to be burned up along with all the grass.
It will burst into flames upon entering the earth's atmosphere like any meteor ; and when it hits the ocean, a third of all the earth's seawater will be turned to blood. A third of the creatures in the oceans will die, along with a third of the ships being destroyed by the tsunami it will cause. When the third angel will sound his trumpet, another meteor called Wormwood will come hurtling at the earth.
This one seems to be more fragile; when it enters the earth it explodes into many pieces which are divinely guided in a third of the rivers and springs of water, causing that third to be bitter and deadly. Many people will die from drinking the water that is contaminated by Wormwood.
When the fourth angel will sound his trumpet, a third of the sun, moon, and stars will be struck, causing them to be darkened.
The third of the stars that will be struck will have a third of each star darkened like the sun. A third of the day and the night will be dark, as well.
Then John saw an angel flying above him, saying woe thrice along with which the woe is for and why: the inhabitants of the earth because of the final three trumpet blasts of the final three angels. Main article: Army of Locusts When the fifth angel will sound his trumpet, a meteor called a star, like the other meteors that will fall or has already fallen from the sky or heaven to the earth will be given a key — the key to the Abyss.
The meteor will unlock the Abyss, causing thick, dark smoke to rise out of it.
