How does bono record vocals

His delivery of the lyric is perfect. Like Stay it is very nuance, but he never soars. He stays in the shadows, watching the neon lights, maintaining the mystery and the mood. The control he displays is remarkable. Hawkmoon : In Bono was one of the greatest rock n roll howlers of all time. This is his him at his righteous rock raging best.

But he wasn't just howling! His voice was really dexterous; it was low and dark, it could soar with a bright melody, and most importantly it maintained its strength and stayed in key. So Cruel : Maybe it's me, but this is one of his most deeply felt performances. You can feel his desperation growing, the lust, the conflict, the helplessness and despair in the face of certain destruction. Plus it has his best, most pure falsetto. Always Forever Now : His voice had shed 10 years but he had the self control to turn a three word mantra into a manifesto.

Ecstatic, intense, and relaxed. Incredible how he does so much with three little words. Wake Up Dead Man : Not technically grand, and from the album where we had to get used to a diminished Bono, the vocal is great because of the emotion. Without resorting to histrionics, he perfectly conveys the sadness, doubt, and quiet rage of a crisis of faith.

Desire : A killer rock n roll vocal. He attacks the song and kills it with perfection. Red Hill Mining Town : He does more with his voice than he should be able to. The development from the joyous lack of restraint of the Unforgettable Fire to the controlled use of his full range that we hear in this song is amazing.

Were the band and studio crew laughing their asses off at him? Why was he yowling like that? Probably because it was fun! He wasn't yet a singer, but the strength of his voice is astounding. When he draws out the "run" and twists it into a word never before said I believe the he is running over the borderland, running so fast he takes to the air.

Hopefully there will be some more good posts in this thread I love U2, and it seems they are always hated on in this board. You got the Elevation tour DVD? Such an awesome concert, and awesome filming Fab4ever Getting better. A masterpiece, in my mind eclipsed only by Joshua Tree. But what is it? Just great vocals and awesome reverb, or something else??

Not the best of mics, I know, but this isn't my day job! Last night I tried creating a little "vocal room" by surrounding myself with hanging blankets, and I think the vocals came out warmer. Now if only I can sing in tune and in time Thanks everyone. Markd New member. Bono records his vocals with a Shure SM58 in the control room with the monitors screeming.

This is a well known fact. It's amazing how different mics suit different singers. I don't know what preamp they use, but I'm sure it's top end. SM and Beta. Bono has really fantastic mic technique.

When I've tried this with other vocalists it often sounds terrible because they "eat" the mic so much. Steven Quote:. Guys, I have no problem with a little bit of healthy discussion and in the heat of the moment I can even understand some friendly namecalling. If you cannot draw the line yourself I unfortunately have to draw it for you. And to be honest I don't like to do that. So please keep it on topic. I took the liberty 'filtering' out what imvho got all this started and simply deleted the posts that were off topic.
